Portfolio > Works on Paper

This project uses a series of digital rocks I created within Bryce software. Using a CNC Plotter outfitted with an etching needle the computer drew the rocks onto my copper plate, then I added the tonal information by hand using rosin aquatint. The prints contain the logic and mark-making of the computer, as well as my own logic and mark-making. I often think of myself as a collaborator with the computer, as well as with those who originally created the programs that I am using. The prints serve as an archive or scientific illustration for what this specific program contains, as well as a way of slowing down digital language and making it permanent.
